Becky Cantieri joined SurveyMonkey in 2011 and built the company’s HR department from the ground up, creating a global powerhouse that is consistently recognized for its milestone growth and outstanding corporate culture. Profitable almost since day one, SurveyMonkey produces well over $100 million in annual revenue and is used by over 20 million people worldwide, including 99% of the Fortune 500.


As the leader of SurveyMonkey’s HR and recruiting teams, Becky has created a culture that defies typical Silicon Valley norms by offering true work life balance and taking care of its employees’ well being, while still growing revenue and users.

Previously, Becky spent over 11 years at Yahoo! serving as the lead HR partner for some of the organizations most complex departments including Search, Marketing, and Advertising. In addition, Becky spent four years in Yahoo’s Mergers & Acquisitions, which she calls, “probably the single best learning experience in my entire career.”

Before making the leap to the high-tech sector, Becky was at Nordstrom for 8 years in HR and customer service roles. The high-end retailer has an interesting policy: anyone seeking a position in HR must first work on the sales floor. Becky’s initial position in sales helped her understand the sales team’s pressured environment and the importance of empathy and compassion, while sharpening her overall business acumen. While also working at Nordstrom, Becky earned a degree in Public Administration with an HR emphasis from San Diego State University. Becky received her MBA in HR from San Francisco State University.
