Susan manages L.L.Bean’s onsite Employee Health Clinic and has overseen the development of their comprehensive Employee Wellness Program for over 30 years. She believes that their Wellness efforts have been successful because they reflect the values of the company. Health and Safety are an integral part of how they work and who they are.

Significant accomplishments include reduction in employee smoking rates from 24% in 1985 to less than 5% today; tobacco free grounds, subsidized healthy offerings in our cafeterias and vending machines and a comprehensive health risk assessment program that is integrated with our Benefits plan. We have experienced significant reductions in health risk factors, and impressive cost savings including a 5.3:1 ROI from our Healthy Lifestyles program – evaluated through multiple claims analyses.

Susan has degrees in Nursing, Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology/Cardiac Rehabilitation.
