Speaker Questionnaire
What is the biggest thing you learned in 2020?

Maintaining good working relationships with vendors and brokers you've worked within the past can significantly help your professional capability.

What do you feel are the two most important benefits or areas that need to be a top priority in 2021?

Getting employees engaged in their benefits and in improving their lifestyle. Support plan members to efficiently use health care services and access quality care.

Can you share a story on an area of your healthcare program or employee benefits where you were able to create significant savings or stop costs from rising?

Within three weeks of starting my current job last summer, I offered changes that reduced medical plan cost by 6%, dental by 22%, and vision by 13% without increasing in-network copays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket maximums. In addition, the company introduced an employer-paid HSA contribution while keeping benefits budget-neutral. It was about looking at what was driving plan costs and understanding where our teammates used benefits the most.

If you could automatically receive a 10-20% reduction in costs in three areas/programs, what would your dream list be?

Medical, pharmacy, and worker's compensation.

What is the most innovative program you will focus on in 2021 and/or 2022?

Chronic kidney disease clinical program with Mayo Clinic.

How are you re-imagining corporate culture & well-being?

We're exploring solutions to manage metabolic syndrome and are implementing a financial wellness program.

What virtual care solutions did you roll out during the pandemic? How valuable were they and why?

Offered free telemedicine on our medical plans through major telemedicine vendors.

If you look at our 3 Moonshots - Costs, Culture, and Care; In one sentence, tell us what would be something positive for us to take from 2020 and bring into this new year?

Continue to develop better patient navigation and mental health well-being.
